Our expanded KidzDuArt area will be staffed by a VSA arts of Iowa (www.vsaarts.iowa.gov) artist this year. All VSA artists have a disability. Annually, VSA arts of Iowa provides arts experience for over 30,000 children and adults with disabilities.

DON'T MISS IT! Our spectacular “Fire-Works”--A Welding Sculpture Demo!!!
Throughout the weekend, Matt Kargol and Glenn Williams will amaze you with their metalworking showmanship! Both are veterans of the welding sculpture competition circuit and will guarantee a spectacular presentation! These award-winning Midwestern professors of sculpture and art education know how to engage and astonish! Follow the progress of their awe-inspiring creation from start to finish! (Located in front of the Varied Industries Building)

Art will dazzle spectators again this year with his ongoing demonstration just outside the north entrance of the Varied Industries Building. He will tend his furnace during the entire show, night and day. Stop by and enjoy the visual, as well as tactile, beauty of blown glass throughout its creation process.

Ongoing Wood Sculpture Demonstration
Award-winning woodworker, Bob Saunders of rural Norwalk, will demonstrate his woodcarving and sculpting skills during the entire show! He has won three Best of Show awards at the Iowa State Fair, including his archtop guitar that won Best of Show in Creative Arts & Crafts in 2008 and his nude carving (named Emma!) that won Best of Show in Wood Carving in 2004!

Directions to ArtFest Midwest
The Iowa State Fairgrounds are located approximately 7 minutes east of downtown Des Moines. The show is held primarily indoors in the Varied Industries Building, a newly renovated and air conditioned venue located at the front of the Fairgrounds.
From the west, take the University Avenue (Fairgrounds) exit off I-235 and go east to East 30th. Street. Turn right (south) on E. 30th Street. Turn left into the Fairgrounds main entrance. Go one block and the Varied Industries Building is on the right. From the east, take Highway 163 exit off I-235 and go east to East 30th Street as from the west. Free Parking and Admission!
Free "Shuttle Between the Shows" links ArtFest Midwest and Des Moines Arts Festival! Yellow school bus shuttles will run from the Iowa State Fairgrounds downtown to the Des Moines Arts Festival.
ArtFest Midwest will sponsor free yellow school bus shuttles. Pick-up and drop off will be at the Varied Industries Building (north entrance) at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, and the downtown art show at 12th & Walnut St.
Hours: 11-6 Saturday & 11-5 Sunday. Shuttles will run approximately every 15-20 minutes.
Enjoy both art shows on Saturday and Sunday: Park at one of the spacious lots at the Fairgrounds, visit ArtFest Midwest, take the yellow bus shuttle downtown to the Des Moines Arts Festival.
